The Motorbike

Whizzer motorized bikes were all the rage in the 1940s and 50s, and after cruising this reproduction down to the beach for the last few years, I can see why. The bike is so much fun to ride, allowing me to motor along whenever I want to cover some ground, and then turn it off and pedal it down the boardwalk as I bar-hop with my buddies. These bikes attract attention from kids to senior citizens, always bringing a smile and the same questions: How fast? About 25mph. How much? Around $1500. Do you need a license or insurance? No, but you need to be 16 and wear a helmet. Is it a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine? Actual Whizzers are 4-stroke, but there are cheaper 2-stroke versions around that are just as fun to ride.
